Recipe for Hipster Success at Pitchfork:

mustache
mullet cut for short ponytail
bandana
black dress socks
belt over top
1 inch inseam athletic shorts

Pitchfork was fun - tiresome and 103 degrees, but fun. The bands were great and the people watching was excellent. Band of Horses made the first day worthwhile and Jens Lekman was the best of today. Tapes and Tapes, the Futureheads and the Walkmen were also entertaining. I don't think I have ever sweated that much in my life. I spent 20 dollars on banana mango smoothies. We left early today and hated to miss Spoon, but didn't want to sit through everything else.

This coming weekend will be the first weekend in over 2 months that we haven't either driven home or had someone staying with us. The 10 hour drive home has become routine, and I'm glad to say that the Jackson summer wedding scene is over for us. I'm looking forward to this weekend, it will be our 1 year anniversary of living here. We are planning on a home improvement weekend: repainting our apartment, moving boxes from our hall closet to a storage room, etc. very exciting.

We are going home for Labor day weekend though - and hopefully flying. It is going to be hard to stay away now that Lou decided his calling in life was playing golf at the country club. It will be nice to be home with nothing to do for once.

Obviously, we aren't moving. They raised our rent 10%, so we freaked out and went looking at apartments every night for the last 2 weeks - everything from lofts, to condos and walk ups, but found nothing we liked as much as our current place. We decided downtown feels like home to us and we would miss it too much, so we are staying put... until we really can't afford it next year. We are discussing buying a place next year, so we'll see how that pans out.

Henry is ready to go to bed and so am I. We have the usual sunday night blues. I feel like summer is over. Lou has 2 weeks left at his job and school will be starting back up in just a few weeks. Time is flying.
